wHO i WORK WITH
Relationships are an important foundation in our lives. When communication is strained or recurring dynamics keep surfacing, this can create tension and distance. Many patterns do not arise intentionally, but from ways in which we have learned to protect ourselves.
At Praktijk Resonance, there is space to pause and reflect on what is going on – within yourself and in relation to others. As a psychologist and relationship therapist, I – Laura Schutte – guide people who are stuck or want to work on improvement in their relationship. We explore together what is happening beneath the surface and how recurring patterns influence contact with others. Change often begins with slowing down, reflecting, and exploring within an open and safe conversation.
Relationship challenges are not limited to romantic relationships; dynamics that need attention can also arise within friendships or family relationships. You are also welcome for individual counseling and questions related to sexuality. Themes such as safety, vulnerability, and trust form an important foundation in the sessions.
Partners
Relationship therapy can be helpful if you notice that:
- conversations frequently escalate or, conversely, fall silent
- the same patterns keep repeating themselves
- distance or disconnection has developed
- trust is under pressure
- there are challenges around intimacy and sexuality
Relationship therapy helps you reflect together on what is truly happening beneath the surface.
Friends or family
Guidance can be helpful when:
- communication feels strained or difficult
- old conflicts continue to resurface
- wishes and boundaries are unclear
- expectations remain unspoken
In the sessions, we create a safe space to express what often remains unspoken — with attention to everyone’s perspective.
individuals
Individual guidance is suitable if you:
- want more insight into your emotions, needs, and desires
- struggle with boundaries, intimacy, or attachment
- want to understand recurring patterns in your relationships
When you slow down, new awareness and change can emerge.

How I work
The sessions focus on exploring together what is happening. We look not only at what is visible in behavior or communication, but also at what lies beneath the surface.
By recognizing automatic reactions — such as defensiveness or withdrawal — you create space for deeper understanding and new ways of connecting.
My approach is tailored to who you are, your context, and your unique relationship dynamic. I also take your culture and background into account: how did you learn to relate to emotions, intimacy, or conflict? And how do these experiences influence your relationships today?
I work with systemic approaches and incorporate elements from EFT and ACT, among others. Where appropriate, I also offer practical tools that you can apply between sessions.
Alongside addressing challenges, I also focus on the strengths and meaningful aspects of your relationship. This positive connection can be a powerful source of growth and change.

About me
From a young age, I have been fascinated by human behavior: why do people do what they do, and what lies beneath the behavior we see on the surface? This curiosity about what drives people and what connects us to one another led me to study psychology at the University of Amsterdam and still forms the foundation of my work as a psychologist and relationship therapist.
As a born and raised Amsterdammer, I feel connected to the energy and movement of the city, while also regularly seeking the quiet of nature. I enjoy social gatherings and deep conversations, and I can appreciate a quiet moment on the couch with a book or series just as much. I have been in a loving relationship for ten years, and through experiencing the interplay between closeness and distance myself, I have gained a deeper understanding of the dynamics within relationships.
Clients describe me as attentive, open, and calm. I aim to create an atmosphere where everything can be expressed and where people feel truly heard. I listen carefully and explore different perspectives, trusting that people often already hold the insights they need. My role is to create the space for those insights to emerge.
